Lone Tree bursted back into the game with a 23-11 fourth quarter to force overtime against Brooklyn-Guernsey-Malcom, but came up just short in an 81-73 non-conference loss.
After a relatively even start to the game, BGM took advantage in the second quarter to go into halftime with an 11-point lead at 40-29.
Things stayed even in the third quarter before Lone Tree went on their offensive tear to tie things up.
In the overtime period BGM outscored Lone Tree 13-5 to take the win.
Lone Tree shot 27-66 from the field and 6-27 from 3-point range, but used 11 offensive rebounds including four from Caleb Viers to create second-shot opportunities.
Keegan Edwards hit 30 points for the first time this season, leading the Lions in scoring. Edwards finished the night with 30 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists.
Avery Knock didn’t have his best night from the field, but made that up with a perfect 8-8 night from the free-throw line. Austin Marshek had eight rebounds, four steals and three blocks.
Konner Coppinger had seven points off the bench and was 2-4 from deep.
BGM’s scoring was focused on just a few players, with their bench contributing just two points. Ulises Felix had 24 points and Scott Tibbetts 22 points for the Bears. Noah Beck dished out 11 assists and stole eight balls. BGM was just 19-33 from the free throw line.
