1929 - 2019

Stanley Brenneman, 89, of Ladora, Iowa, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2019. Services were held Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019, at Kloster Funeral Home in Marengo. Inurnment was held at Ohio Cemetery, rural Ladora.

Stanley Brenneman was born Nov. 26, 1929, in rural Kalona, the son of Ezra K. and Katie Swartzendruber Brenneman. Stanley was united in marriage to Mary Ann Krejci on Oct. 24, 1954, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple made their home in Wellman before moving to Ladora in 1956. 

He farmed for many years and also worked at Amana Refrigeration until retiring in 1994, after 22 years of service. He also served as the mayor for the city of Ladora for 16 years. Stanley treasured his family and enjoyed having coffee at the Ladora Store.

He is survived by his children: Lori Volz of Amana and Brian (Brenda) Brenneman of Blairs-town; six grandchildren: Dan (Tanya) Reade of Tiffin, Brent (Milaena) Reade of Cedar Rapids, Shane Voltz of Tiffin, Jodi (Denny) Ballard of Amana, Heidi Hollenbeck of Tiffin and Derek (Erica) Brenneman of Williamsburg; 12 great-grandchildren; two siblings: Raymond (Fannie) Brenneman of Indiana and Shirley (Cal) Hochstedler of Kalona; and a sister-in-law: Edna Brenneman of Kalona.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Mary Ann; a son-in-law: Gary Volz; two brothers Rollin Brenneman and Eldon in infancy; and a sister: Rose Mary.
